TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund

Angela Alves lives in Berlin with a chronic neurological disorder and works as a choreographer, dancer and cultural worker at the interface of art, body and politics. In her work, she questions dominant social narratives of ‘healthy’ and ‘sick’ and brings her sensitive and intelligent nervous system to bear in her exploration of voids and contradictions. From the perspective of lived experience, anti-ableist performances and sound installations emerge, as well as a cultural practice of mutual care and solidarity that Alves trains in collaboration with others.
Angela Alves studied dance at ArtEZ (NL) and dance studies at the FU Berlin. Since October 2023 she has been working as an artistic collaborator in the project team of Prof. Claire Cunningham at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT), where she researches, teaches and practices neurocrip-feminist practices such as resting, cessation and pleasure.

Carmen Kovacs is a freelance dance dramaturge and librettist based in Munich. She initially worked at the Bavarian State Ballet and the Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf Duisburg before becoming an external dramaturge and curatorial advisor for the Hamburg Ballet under the artistic direction of Demis Volpi. She has worked with choreographers Aszure Barton, Demis Volpi, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Hélène Blackburn, Andrey Kaydanovskiy, Nanine Linning, Xin Peng Wang, Xenia Wiest, Stefania Ballone, Julie Pécard, and Eric Gauthier, among others. Carmen Kovacs is active in various cultural policy juries, including the Bavarian State Association for Contemporary Dance since 2019, the Munich Cultural Department’s Independent Dance Creators Jury since 2024, and TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund in 2025. She was also a member of the jury for the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2024 and for the festival tanz nrw 25.

Sebastian Matthias is a choreographer and dance researcher. Since 2024 he has been Professor of Dance as Research Practice in Social Fields at the Frankfurt University for Applied Sciences and researches at the Institute for Sustainability at the GFZ in Potsdam. From 2022 to 2024 he was a post-doc at the Institute for Performative Practice, Art and Education at the Braunschweig University of Art and from 2019-21 at the Institute Culture of the Metropolis at HafenCity University Hamburg. Since 2010, he has also presented his choreographic works internationally at independent production houses, festivals and theater institutions such as Theater Basel, Tanzhaus NRW and Kampnagel Hamburg. He studied dance at the Juilliard School in New York, dance studies at the Free University of Berlin and completed his doctorate on groove at HCU Hamburg.

Katharina von Wilcke is a curator, consultant, mediator and producer. In the 1990s, she founded DepArtment, the first production office for independent performing arts, which worked with choreographers such as Angela Guerreiro, Jochen Roller and Saburo Teshigawara. On behalf of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, she co-directed the Dance Congress in 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2016 and is co-editor of the publication Wissen in Bewegung (transcript Verlag). In 2019, she was involved in the process development of the model project Dekoloniale. In recent years, she has also increasingly focused on the role of the audience in movement-based arts, developing mediation formats for spectators such as Singles & Theater Lovers and the itsamatch.art platform. She has been a jury member of TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund since 2018.
